Businesses can proceed with filing tax returns
Businesses that do their tax return directly or through an intermediary can now continue to do so. Previously the Tax Office hadĀ advised businessesĀ to put a hold on tax returns and other electronic transactions until further notice in connection with the fraudulent DigiNotar security certificates. The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated on Monday that there are sufficient safeguards to ensure a safe tax return.
Together with the business community the government is analysing the potential consequences of the DigiNotar security breach for each sector. Once the consequences for each sector are known these will be published. According to the Ministry of Finance, VNO-NCW, MKB Netherlands and related businesses it has the following consequences for the fiscal sector.
Electronic tax returns for businesses
In response to the situation surrounding the DigiNotar security certificates there has been intensive discussion between the Tax Office, the Ministry of Finance, VNO-NCW, MKB Netherlands, ICT-Office and various software suppliers and tax consultants. It has been concluded that systems in which businesses do their tax return directly or through an intermediary can continue to do so. There are sufficient additional safeguards to ensure a safe tax return. All parties agreed that the situation should be monitored closely in the upcoming period. If new developments occur, the necessary action to be taken will determined through discussion with the parties concerned. If unexpected delays occur, then the tax authorities will be lenient.
